Stunned White 2008 0.75 LTJ.M.F
This wine came from a limited area called Quinta dos Pasmados, in Azeitão. In 1998, we decided to replace the Chardonnay variety with Viosinho, and the origin of Arinto and Esgana was also changed from clayey-limestone to sandy soil. In 2005, with the aim of increasing the complexity of the wine, we added the Viognier variety to the blend, which we have had in our vineyards for over 40 years. In the 2008 harvest, we removed the Esgana variety from the final batch, in order to give the wine a greater personality. In this way, Pasmados white is assumed to be the top of the range of José Maria da Fonseca white wines, being released to the market only after a minimum period of two years during which it ferments, ages and rests in our cellars.
Viognier, Viosinho and Arinto.
Fermentation at 18ºC. Aging for 3 months in 2nd year French oak barrels with bâtonnage, resting in our cellars the rest of the time.
Straw yellow color. Dry fruit aroma (walnuts, hazelnuts), very ripe pineapple, melon, harmonious, elegant, great evolution. On the palate, present fruit, some oak, good acidity, complexity.
