Citadelle is half "revival" half new innovation: "revival" because it is a gin inspired by another gin produced in France, in "Citadelle", innovation because the Domaine de la Citadelle distillery is located in the southwest corner of France, most famous for its cognacs than for their gins.
But perhaps the most audacious part was the revelation that in the off season, when they legally couldn't distill cognac, they started distilling gin.
The government finally relented in the year 95, and so began the magic of flames and stills. Thus was born this famous gin.
Tasting Notes: Transparent color. Aroma with notes of juniper and jasmine, with a finish that called aniseed and cinnamon. The fine, spicy, elegant taste, beautiful freshness.
Gin Citadelle has a delicate and perfumed nose of fresh flowers, jasmine, honeysuckle and cinnamon. After a few moments, the development of stronger, more herbaceous aromas of aniseed, grains of paradise and cinnamon is noticeable. This appetizing bouquet is reminiscent of gardens in spring. In the mouth, the genièvre berries give way to a certain voluptuousness, a complexity imprinted with floral freshness. The finish is elegant, round and very refined.Excellent in a gin and tonic with a slice of orange or an aniseed star.
