VINIFICATION
Made from a selection of several plots of one of the oldest vineyards in the Douro region, Quinta do Bom Retiro. It is a wine created from many different batches. Wines are easy to match when young, but as they age, the matching process becomes more difficult. Greater knowledge and fine-tuning are needed on both sides so that, over time, a perfect and lasting harmony is achieved. Made from wines from Quinta de Bom Retiro, it is a blend aged on average 20 years, an adult and a sophisticated tawny.
TEST RESULTS
A tawny color with a yellow halo that signifies an advanced stage of maturity. This is the true color of a 20 year old barrel wine. It has a warm red color with a slight orange tinge at the bottom of the glass. A lively aroma with a velvety texture. Fruit aromas: grapefruit, apricot, almond, hazelnut and cocoa. Wood aromas: vanilla, old port wine barrels and phenol. Roasted aromas: cinnamon, caramel, coffee. Ethereal aromas: stearin and iodine. Smooth and dry in the mouth, complemented by a rich and generous aftertaste. A fine and delicious attack. The elegance of the first contact with the palate is maintained through a complex sequence of ripe and dry fruits and nuts in a fresh and licorice harmony.
