In 1988, an American-Danish couple set out on a sailboat to find a place to raise a family and plant a vineyard. They arrived in Alentejo, and in a land of white grape varieties they planted red varieties.
MoreHans and Carrie docked in Portugal and, in the heart of Alentejo, discovered “Cortes de Cima”. It was just barren land and a few abandoned buildings, but it reminded Carrie of her homeland: California. Hans, who was born in Denmark, was simply enchanted by the Mediterranean sun.
